Audi R8 LMP
The Audi R8 LMP, also known as the Audi R8 Le Mans Prototype, is a high-performance sports prototype racing car developed by Audi Sport for competition in endurance racing events, particularly the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car was designed to adhere to regulations set by various racing organizations, including the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). The Audi R8 LMP made its debut in 2000 and quickly established itself as a dominant force in endurance racing. It features advanced aerodynamics, a lightweight carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, and a 650+hp turbo charged V8 engine. These engines were known for their efficiency, power output, and reliability.
The Audi R8 LMP achieved remarkable success during its racing career with 63 wins to 79 race starts. It clinched multiple victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, one of the most grueling and prestigious endurance races in the world. Its wins in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005, solidified its status as one of the most successful endurance racing cars of its era and set the table for Audi dominance at Le Mans for the next ten years.
The 2005 Audi R8 LMP 607 we are pleased to offer began its life as an Audi of America (AOA) show car to showcase the new Le Mans prototype racer. After Audi R8 LMP production ended in 2006, this chassis was stored with Audi AG until a deal was reached with the 2004 & 2005 LMP1 winner, Champion Racing, to acquire the chassis. Chassis 607 was assembled in 2009 by a who’s who of Champion Racing alumni under the direction of Race Technical Director, Brad Kettler. The team included Le Mans winning veterans Bobby Green, Greg Martin, and Greg Laird. As Kettler puts it, it may be the best R8 ever assembled because of the team’s immense expertise with these cars drawn from over 5 years in ALMS and WEC, running the dominant Champion Racing R8 prototypes of Frank Biela, Johnny Herbert, Tom Kristensen, JJ Lehto, Allan McNish, and Emanuele Pirro.
Upon its completion, the car was sold to a private vintage race team, Rogers Motorsports, who raced it to multiple vintage wins and a 2010 HSR championship win. R8 LMP 607 was the Classic 24HR at Daytona Winner in 2014, 2015, and 2018 and used in various Audi Sport exhibition drives where it was driven by Tom Kristensen at Sebring in 2016. In 2021, the car returned to Brad Kettler’s race shop for a complete race prep and build up of a massive spares inventory, including over 300 R8 LMP spares, notably:
• The last new Audi R8 LMP factory assembled race engine
• Spare Bosch ECU
• Complete and race ready hinterwagen
• Front nose & splitter

• Multiple complete brake assemblies
